We are currently revising the timetable view to make it better and more modern for you. Your feedback is important to us, because we want the new view to be really helpful for you.
Try the view under "Timetable - BETA" in WebUntis.
There are still unanswered questions? No problem, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions for you.
What is still missing in the new version?
What comes next?
Subsequent versions of the new timetable view will bring these improvements:
- Optimize the display on smaller screens ("not all lines on the cards are displayed")
- Display of holidays
- Icons (homework/online lessons)
- Texts (substitution text, lesson text,...)
- further timetables (rooms, students, resources)
- Print function
- All timetable-relevant settings as a menu item in "Timetable - BETA"
Where did the legend go and what's the deal with the slimmed down legend?
Our data show that all of the changes to the schedule can be summarized to the following three events:
- Cancellations (in case activated in the timetable format)
- Exams
- Changes
The new legend is interactive: you can highlight specific events to focus on what's most important. A click colors relevant periods, and icons can also be displayed for better accessibility.
As a WebUntis administrator, how can I change the format of the timetable?
Also in the new timetable view the timetable formats apply, which you manage under Administration -> Layout settings. If you change something there, the format applies to the current timetable and to the new one.
However, not all settings will be applied to the new timetable (e.g. font colors and font sizes).
Where are my individual colors for classes and rooms and different activity types?
Colors can now be specified for subjects only, from a fixed color palette. This provides consistency, makes it easier to compare schedules across different schools, and is especially helpful for parents and teachers dealing with multiple schools. Additionally, this allows us to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to improve usability.
In the mobile app, I as a teacher have always seen immediately by the colors of the cell, which subject I have when. This is practically invisible with the thin color lines on the small display!
We know that the changes to the new timetable will take some time to get used to. However, user tests have shown that the clear, uncluttered view quickly wins you over. We have removed features that are hardly used. The focus is now on ease of use, personalization and accessibility for all user groups. These improvements will also be implemented in Untis Mobile.
Why is all the content now on one hour card below each other? Why is the space not used more optimally?
The new display of the timetable improves the accessibility and comparability of information. Previous display problems, such as with multiple classes or lessons running in parallel, are resolved. The new design is quick to grasp and saves space. The weekly view provides an overview, while the daily view shows all necessary info in a compact way. In addition, the design is such that it works well on different screens and devices.
To be honest: especially on smaller screens the display does not work optimally yet ("not all lines are displayed"), we are still working on that.
How can I display only the short names everywhere, even in the day view?
Not at all.
The week view provides a general overview of the respective week. Naturally, it is not possible to display all details in such an overview. To be able to display as much information as possible, only short names are shown here.
The detailed view of a period offers the full information and the full range of functions that you have been used too.
The newly created day view is a mixture of the detail level of the detail view and the overview of the week view. The day view focuses on details of the periods of a day and shows only long names.
If there are several parallel events, how does the order come about?
The sequence is defined as follows (from left to right):
- Cancellations (if enabled in the settings)
- Exams
- additional periods and changed periods (e.g. room change)
- normal teaching periods
- external events (e.g. ClassyPlan)
Can the activation of the filters be permanently set/saved?
The settings of the filters and also the activation/deactivation of the icons are saved in the respective user profile. So these settings remain even if you log in with other devices or browsers.
In the future, we would like to make these settings of the timetable formats configurable in order to be able to set a default per school and user group.
When will the new view also be available on Mobile?
Currently, our focus is on the developement of the WebUntis timetable. We first want to make sure that the modernized version of the timetable works for certain target groups before we also bundle our resources for implementation for mobile devices. At the moment, however, the new view on Untis Mobile is expected in the course of 2024.
What is a beta phase for?
The beta phase has two goals: First, we can test the product on a wider user group and thereby improve it. Second, you become part of the development process by testing the product and giving us feedback. During the beta phase, new features will be added continuously. For a while, both timetable versions will be available. Once the new version meets all our requirements and is also available on mobile, the old version will be discontinued.
