In some cases, it is necessary, to migrate Untis data sets of one database type into another database, e.g.MS Access to MySQL or MySQL for Windows into MySQL for Linux.
The following migrations are possible:
Source database Target database
MS Access MySQL
MS Access MS SQL
MySQL MS SQL
MS SQL MySQL
Note
Please note that MySQL 8.0 is not supported.
Please note that MySQL 8.0 is not supported.
The following example describes the migration from MS Access to MySQL. All other conversions are carried out similarly.
- First, download the up- dated version of Untis via www.untis.at and instal it. Log into the data set. Log out again and click on "Repair database "on the" "File" tab under "Auxiliary functions". With this, you make sure that the data structure of your database is up-dated. Now re-name this ODBC connection to "Untis0".
- Now create a new ODBC data source with the name: "Untis" directing to an empty (i.e. without any newly created tables) database of the type to which you want to migrate the data. If no driver is provided, you first need to download it from an adequate website(e.g. www.mysql.de ).
- Now start Untis, and go to "File | Login". After confirming that, you want to convert the database to MySQL, processing is started. This can take a few minutes, depending on the size of the database.
If the process is interrupted, you perhaps need to delete existing tables from the database and start the process anew.
