Due to the current teaching situation, it is important to add files to certain entries in WebUntis. This is why we implemented a OneDrive integration (Office 365) in the short term.
We've summarised the most important information in this short video. Up to minute 1:10 you will see information for administrators, from minute 1:11 the information for teachers.
How can you attach files from OneDrive?
As soon as integration has been activated by the WebUntis administrator at your school, you can attach files from OneDrive to
- Information on period
- Teaching content entries
- Homeworks
- Internal messages
- Messages of the day
Just click on the “OneDrive” or “Attach file(s)” button by the respective content.
You need to allow pop-ups for WebUntis in order to make the integration work. If these are disabled, you will be appropriately informed.
If you have not yet registered for Office 365 you will be guided through registration in the following steps. You need to allow WebUntis to read files from OneDrive.
Now you can select files from OneDrive or upload new files. Just click on “Open” and the selected file will be attached to WebUntis.
If you use WebUntis on a publicly accessible computer, for instance a school computer, please take care to log out of both WebUntis and OneDrive when you are done with your work.
When is OneDrive available for WebUntis?
This integration can be activated as of 25 March 2020 by WebUntis administrators at your school. As of 26 March 2020, you can attach files to “Teaching content”, “Messages of the day” and “Information on period”.
For this, you need to activate the new right "OneDrive". Go to "Rights and roles" > "Expert mode" and activate it for the respective user group. Only then will the new integration be shown.
As soon as OneDrive has been activated for a user group, users of this group can only attach files from OneDrive to WebUntis contents.
The existing integration with “WebUntis Drive” (file storage) remains available in the main menu. Files that are already uploaded remain available, however, they can no longer be sent as attachments.
Does the school need to have a central Office 365 or OneDrive access?
No. Integration can be used with both school and private Office 365 access accounts.
Please note that currently integration does not work with Office 365 access accounts which are provided by Telekom Germany’s Microsoft Cloud and were activated between 2015 and August 2018.
If your access is via office.de your access account may be affected, if you log in via office.com your access account may not be affected.
How does registering work?
As soon as you want to attach a file in WebUntis, you need to log in to Office 365. If you have done this already from a different tab, you do not need to log in again.
The link for your Office 365 access account is NOT saved and is not connected to your login to WebUntis.
How does logging out work?
Please note that when you log out from WebUntis, if you are using a public computer you need to log out from Office 365 separately as well.
For logging out, open your OneDrive in a new tab (the usual way – without WebUntis), e.g. via https://onedrive.live.com.

- Log out
How much memory is available?
Memory space is only restricted by possible Office 365 limitations. WebUntis exclusively saves links to files, therefore there is no limitation.
Please note that links saved in WebUntis are public. This means that everybody who has access to the link, has access to the file.
WebUntis makes sure that only authorised persons have access to the respective link. If the link is shared outside of WebUntis, we cannot control the access.
Which settings need to be changed if the file from OneDrive is not uploaded to WebUntis?
In such a case, please contact your Office 365 administrator to reset your default link sharing settings (under: Advanced settings for sharable links | External sharing) to “Anyone”.
Then the files can be uploaded to WebUntis.
